A similar issue was reported on nbusers@netbeans.org. Some windows themes do not provide enough info for Swing, which results in the NPE. This cannot be fixed on our side, however for Mustang (JDK 6.0) it will be most likely fixed. AS of now RESOLVED|WONTFIX. Switching back to standard Win XP theme should help to solve the issue. Win XP theme support does not work with 'broken' desktop theme (unexpected value is returned from OS). See issue #64380 for more details.
