I have set code completion auto popup to false in the advanced settings dialog, under Editor > Html 
Editor.

However, I still get tag completion auto-popping up all the time - quite annoying.

Oops, sorry this works but just if you disable the autopopup in the basic editor
options. I think this is the preferred way. The behaviour is handled by the
completion infrastructure. We should maybe remove the advanced option...
