if you run netbeans 5.0 with jdk 1.4.2(any sub version) 
the document list gets white as you move the mouse over 
I supose it is happening in platform

I don't understand what document list you mean? Can you describe it better or
attach screenshot?

Anaway trunk currently requires JDK1.5+ even for platform so if it is a problem
with rendering on JDK1.4 we're not going to fix it.
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/2d/flags.html can help if there is a
more general problem with Java 2D.
