I started up the 20050823 Q build and since I didn't have a user directory, NB
displayed the Welcome screen and did *not* open an Output pane at the bottom of
the window.

I then did a checkout using the new CVS support. Everything worked fine, but it
was a lengthy checkout (35 minutes) and I wasn't getting much feedback. The
little gas gauge in the lower-right corner isn't enough to make me feel
confident that something is "Really Happening." When I chose Window > Output I
could then see the names of the files scrolling by, which made me feel warm and
fuzzy. :-)

It seems the new CVS support should force an output pane to open when the user
does a check out.
