Description sanurmi 2003-04-22 14:25:19 UTC
I got java -verion: java version "1.4.0_01" and my os is
Win2000.

First I uninstalled the previous version and after that I
installed 3.5beta but it got stuck after I chose the file
where I wanted to install version 3.5. So I couldn't
install version 3.5 at all. After that I tried to install
the version 3.4.1 and I got a same problem so at the moment
I am using Eclipse. I have heart that kind of problem with
Linux and the lates java-version but not with Win2000.

HI,

it strange - looks like problem with your OS. Please, try to use
another jdk. Do you have installed only one jdk or you have more?
Or,there is possible to download archive and just unarchive it instead
of using installer. NB is better than Eclipse.

I had the same issue on Win 2000 and found it was caused
(in my case) by not having sufficient permissions for the
installation process. A java.exe process simply sat there
eating up 99 percent of the processor. The installer needs
to handle such things gracefully and inform the user of
such a problem.

Is there a way how to set permissions to be enough? Did you try it
please? Please, let me know if it helps.
