I know the feature with the different user dir but its a pain in the ass for me to create a user dir for each time I need a new instance or window, because these folders are not that small. It will grow up to hundrets of megabyte.

I have to wait if I want to open a new instance with a new user dir, because I got a question which I have to accept and It will import settings if I do and yes I wanted because I wanted the same settings as in my main instance. And I wanted to open my project inside netbeans and wanted to asked in this window or in a new one.

With Visual Studio you can use multiple instances ok that would be fine, but I prefer the solution from intelliJ they only have one instance but you can have multiple windows which are very fast to open and they use the same settings from the first opened window. And it looks the same it feels like 2 instances but its only one instance. This feature would be a very nice or for me it is a must to have. But only my opinion. And I think in the past you saw that some people asked for such feature. But it should be different from: "use it with a new user dir".

Chris

Here is a little description from the help page of intelliJ:

IntelliJ IDEA allows you to work with several projects simultaneously, each one in a separate window. The projects are independent, and cannot share information, except for the Clipboard operations. All the projects run in the same instance of IntelliJ IDEA and use the same memory space.

I think that would be help, because of Go to File works Projects independent too and if I have opened 8 projects, Go to file will search in each project which is a pain in the ass. So for netbeans it would be great if we have dependent projects, we can open it in the same window, if not, open it in an other window and don't search inside these projects, for example Go to file. If you have symlinks than it is so.
