Summary: Too long versioning-keywords in editor tabs
Product: versioncontrol Reporter: rednael
Component: SubversionAssignee: Ondrej Vrabec <ovrabec>

Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Version: 8.0

OS: Windows 8

Description rednael 2014-05-21 12:58:49 UTC
Product Version = NetBeans IDE 8.0 (Build 201403101706)
Operating System = Windows 8 version 6.2 running on amd64
Java; VM; Vendor = 1.8.0
Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 25.0-b70

The versioning-keywords (like [New], [Modified], etc.) that are placed behind the filenames in the tabs of the editor, take up a lot of space.
The tabs are already colored (red for New, blue for Modified, etc.) to show the status of the file. I still prefer the keywords over the colors (as I am color-blind), but they are too long.
I propose to use either an icon, or a short string like '[N]' for New and '[M]' for modified and so on. That way, the status is still shown, and users can have more tabs on a single row.

With regards,
Martijn
