Search for Anything.

When you type Ctrl + Shift + A in IntelliJ they will prompt a very nice little search window for search anything inside the IDE, like options, and other things. You can see for some options the hotkey after the result. See my screenshot for more info. This thing would be very handy I think.

Ctrl+I (on Windows) does the same thing in NetBeans.

When I search the Keymap for Ctrl + I, I got "Quick Search" as the result, in category Edit (Tested on 2 instances and with an other collegue). First its not what Im searching for and its not the feature which is working in Intellij, I think because at the moment it does nothing for me. I can't see anything. Windows 7 64bit, Netbeans 8, Patch 1.1.

You need to turn Quicksearch toolbar on (menu View - Toolbars - Quick Search)

Ok got it thanks. But for me it wasn't really clear and now its on the right upper corner which is ok but a little popover like go to symbol/file/type would be nice, wouldn't it?

The other colleague didn't realize it too.

And what I realized too, I can't see my custom shortcuts which I created for shelve changes, New document tab group, and so on.

IDEA has the little quick search on the right upper corner as netbeans, but when I press shift, shift then a little overlay opens like the go to file/symbol/class overlay. It's more consistent.
