In fact, this is not a problem related to dark theme but a problem related to Nimbus (both Nimbus and Dark Nimbus). Specifically, the rendering differs on Nimbus because of the commit http://hg.netbeans.org/web-main/rev/99879be00d14 I have modified the corresponding code to work around the mentioned commit.
