Hi,
I'm discovering Netbeans and everything is really awesome so far, but there is one thing that I really regret: On PHP editor for instance, there is no way to put a different color/theme for single line comments versus multiple lines comments.
/* this would be for ex. with a yellow background */
// This would be on a white background

This may sound futile but it's actually how I structure all my code: by putting a background on multiple lines comments, they really stand out and I can quickly see how it's structured, and single lines comments are really a bit everywhere.

I tried to work on Netbeans without that, but I already switched back to Aptana which allows that differentiation, because this feature is just saving me so much time in understanding code structure, for code written by others as well.

Yes, it's in dev version, so it will NOT be in 7.3(.x) versions (since there is a code freeze for em). It's a new feature for next release - 8.0.
