The grails project, in Grails-9505 has indicated that the grails-debug.bat script will become deprecated, to use grails -debug.

http://jira.grails.org/browse/GRAILS-9505

It is their desire to later remove the script.

It would be useful to get there a bit early in supporting this mode, but it might have to be conditionalized to have knowledge of the grails version in use.

Per http://jira.grails.org/browse/GRAILS-9547 the grails-debug and grails-debug.bat scripts have been removed from Grails 2.4.
