I didn't get an error message; the Netbeans IDE just refused to start. I tried to uninstall and reinstall it and it didn't help.

Hi,

can you please attach log? <home folder>/.netbeans/<nb version>/var/log/ - here you can find messages.log (or more logs).

Also I would ask you to specify what system are you running on, version etc.

and as i already instructed you in bug #75463
provide NetBeans version and start the IDE from shell:
> cd NETBEANS_INSTALLATION_FOLDER/bin
> ./netbeans
and paste here the output
