Description ben2 2012-03-09 12:37:52 UTC
I've been running 7.0.1 for ages. I had no indication from using the Application that any new stable version (7.1.1) was available.

Furthermore, if I explicitly check for updates (Help > Check for Updates) there is no indication that a new version is available.

These days, I don't expect to have to visit a website routinely to check whether a new version is available. Applications nowadays typically have some indication that a new version is available, and I would certainly expect that if I explicitly check for new updates, I would be alerted to the existance of a new version of the IDE.

However, I do not expect to be notified of non-stable releases by default.

ben2,
you should be notified through bubble in the IDE, not through update center. NetBeans 7.1.1. is update of NetBeans 7.1 not 7.0.1
