fixed Hi Jeff and Petr, do you agree with this bugfix? Damian. While this is partially true that some of the items only make limited sense for the Web Module Group object, or that they should have a better name, this does not mean that removing the Tools menu item is the proper way to fix these problems. Create Group... makes as much sense as for any other object, and the discussions about its usefulness should be more general than at the level of Web Module Group. A more appropriate name for this action should perhaps be 'Create a Group of Related Objects...', which is more self-explanatory. Add to Project would make sense, if the Projects as a feature were useful enough. This action is really coupled with the Project view of files, and any change to this menu should be treated in concert with the evolution of the Projects concept. Similarly for Set as Project Main Class - except that here 'Class' is clearly inappropriate, but that also holds for JSPs and Web Modules, not only Web Module Groups. The Copy File item has a different meaning here than the Copy item in the proper popup menu, so it's not duplicate. So while I agree that there are usability problems with more or less all the menu items in the Tools menu, I don't agree with the proposed fix to remove the Tools menu item, as this solution does not address the root of the problem, and creates an inconsistency with other objects. I agree with Petr. Addressing these issues with regard to only the web module group is meaningless. Also, I'm not sure why this is a P2 bug, seems more like a P4. And perhaps it makes sense to change it to an enhancement, since I don't think that the presence of the tools menu is a bug. There is no actions, such as, Create Group, Set as Project Main Class, in j2ee application. Considering web module/web module group is similar to j2ee application, should we keep ide consistent? Also, I wonder if user will use these features. the change is rolled back I will wait for end of discussion current score is 2:1 for roll back :) because there is no other talking, I am closing this bug. Changing target milestone to FFJ 4.0 Changing target milestone to FFJ 4.0 Closing invalid issue. |
