The first message issued by the NetBeans installer upon successful completion is, "To start NetBeans, double-click the icon on the desktop." There is no such icon on my desktop. This is mainly just annoying, as I'm sure I'll be able to find where NetBeans is installed and run it from the command line; however, it is not a very auspicious beginning.
