When editing a lengthy piece of code, it's not always clear which part of the code you're viewing.

An extra, vertical bar on the left side of the code (near the line numbers) would create a valuable (and unique afaik.) asset to the Netbeans editor.

I've added a mockup image to clarify my idea.

Something similar is implemented as breadcrumbs. See
