This may be a minor defect, or feature, but it is a bit annoying, and could probably be fixed very easily.

The task to be performed is selection and adaption of fonts in the editor (or elsewhere).

In Netbeans choose Tools -> Options. Select the Fonts & Colors Tab. Then in the "Category" list which shows "Default" "Character" "Comment" "Entity Reference" etc. the last item is selected by default. This is the "Whitespace".

So if I want to change the Default font, which is what I do most frequently, one has to select the "Default" item. Instead of the "Whitespace" the "Default" item should show as selected when the "Fonts & Colors" tab is opened.

No big deal, as I said, but it looks a bit unpolished, and could be fixed easily.
