After installing Java 6 update 12 text in the “value” column fails to display.  Only by selecting a field with the 
mouse can the text in that field be seen.  Reverting back to Java 6 update 11 solved the problem.

Additional Info: this error showed itself while in the PHP programming perspective.  I have not tested it with others.

Verified ... and Closing all issues resolved into NetBeans 6.7 and earlier.
