steps to reproduce:

Open any javascript source which is longer than 2 displays. 
Roll down with a scroll bar. 
After a moment characters change to unreadable ones.
See the attached image.

Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 200901190201)
Java: 1.6.0_10; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 11.0-b15
System: Linux version 2.6.27-9-generic running on amd64; UTF-8; en_US (nb)

Does this happen only in javascript editor??? Can you try .java or .txt file please?

Reassigning to editor for evaluation, doesn't look like javascript issue
