I think it would be useful to have a feature in Matisse where you select a particular component configuration (e.g.
foreground = red, font = 14, preferred size = [14, 42]) and your cursor would then change to what I would call a
formatting stick.  While using the formatting stick, any component you click on will try to apply those format changes
to itself, and then inform you if it succeeds.
