I think that "Add server instance" wizard could read env.variable CATALINA_HOME and set value of Catalina Home textfield
automatically.

How to reach the wizard:
 - run IDE
 - invoke "Servers" list (Tools -> Servers)
 - press "Add server" button
 - select Tomcat 6.0
 - press "Next" button
