Description Jaroslav Tulach 2001-03-21 09:27:12 UTC
The major problem that we are facing with a lot of modules is that they require
external binaries and we are not able to deliver them together with the module.

One option would be to convince our layers to change their minds and declare
other licences compatible with SPL, but that takes time and seems unlikely right
now.

Anyway our goal is to deliver modules to the user as simply as possible and that
is why I am calling for additional feature in autoupdate. Let's allow download
of external libraries directly from autoupdate.

There has been a discussion on nbdev@
(http://www.netbeans.org/www-nbdev/msg04967.html) which contains the pros and
cons of this approach, but in my opinion there is more pros, so we should decide
to implement this feature for 3.3 release.
