Description Alexander Kouznetsov 2007-03-15 11:04:22 UTC
Profiler 070314

There is no Insert Profiling Point menu item in Profile menu.
Comment 1 Jiri Sedlacek 2007-03-22 15:35:25 UTC
The menu item isn't missing, it was removed.
Comment 2 Alexander Kouznetsov 2007-03-22 15:40:18 UTC
Any reasons? It seems to be natural to have this menu item since Run menu item
has both Toggle Breakpoint and New Breakpoint menu items.
Comment 3 Alexander Kouznetsov 2007-04-25 15:02:26 UTC
I would like to mention the inconsistency once again. Verified as invalid.
Comment 4 Alexander Kouznetsov 2007-09-25 15:59:55 UTC
It seems that since there are so called global profiling points implemented in profiler it would be useful to provide
New Profiling Point menu item in Profile menu like New Breakpoint in Run menu. Currently this functionality is hidden
from user.

kganfield, please evaluate this issue.
Comment 6 Kenneth Ganfield 2007-09-26 12:46:57 UTC
While I think having the item in the menu might be nice, i don't think it is necessary.
though i am willing to be persuaded.
What would be a use case?

I would like to know the reason why it was removed.

That said, I think it could be a nice enhancement for the next release depending on what the use cases are.
Comment 7 Jiri Sedlacek 2007-09-26 12:52:32 UTC
The item has been removed from Profile menu because the action is available in Profiling Points Window and in editor
context menu. I don't think that in general having the same actions everywhere is not a good idea.

On the other side it's true that for global profiling points it could be useful as creating them using editor context
menu isn't exactly natural and that could be a reason to put the action back into Profile menu. However, it's not for 6.0.

Milestone cleanup: future->next
Comment 9 Jiri Sedlacek 2016-11-09 13:09:57 UTC
Fixed in the new profiler.
