Description Jiri Kovalsky 2005-01-05 14:13:33 UTC
Development build #200501041900 of NetBeans 4.1
Windows XP, JDK 1.5.0 build #64

Description:
============
Both deployment descriptor and
META-INF/context.xml files don't follow default
XML action setting. I guess this is as designed
but I, for one, consider this confusing.

Steps to reproduce:
===================
1. Invoke "Tools|Options" from main menu.
2. Select "Options|Editing|XML|General Settings".
3. Setup "Default XML Action" to "Edit".
4. Create new sample web project.
5. Double click "web.xml" node but "Open" action
was used instead of what you required in step 3.

I think that XML should remove Open action since it does the same as
Edit action (see issue 52107).
From this point of view web.xml and context.xml have different set of
actions than common XML files since Open makes sence for web.xml
(another question is if View action makes sense for web.xml).

It would be probably good to have a chance set default action for
these configuration files independently on common XML default action
setting.

I am sorry but I for one don't have strong opinion on this and would
rather recommend HIE's review. Possibility to have special setting for
all XML configuration files seems like an overkill to me. How would we
explain that general XML settings don't apply to these files ? I still
tend to consider this issue a defect.

Issue based on 4.1, closing. Please reopen if the bug is applicable for NetBeans 6.5.
