Some exceptions are related to missing source
files, but during startup (after initial dissplay
of GUI but before any user interaction), error
dialog after dialog pops up reporting IOExecptions
until the Gui no longer responds and I have ot
kill the application

Could you please attach messages.log? Or at least provide the
exception stacktraces and build number? (messages.log would be much
better - you can find it in $nbuser/var/log/ directory)
Otherwise we are unable to identify the problem.
