the internal swing browser is very fast and convenient for displaying simple documents such as javadocs. it's not so nice for anything else. also, many people like using different browser settings for displaying api's/doc's as opposed to other uses (for example, i'd create a profile with a smaller browser window which gets reused for documentation). so how about having two browser settings, one for displaying documentation and one for all else? the internal swing browser should probably be the default for documentation; we don't want to have people who are trying out netbeans wait an eternity for mozilla to load up. the swing browser is much faster for that purpose and leads to a more pleasant experience.
a better way of doing this may be to specify a browser for content served by the IDE itself.
forget that second comment; a seperate setting for docs is simpler and better. since it should be easy to implement (on your end), how about making it happen for 4.1?
- Version is the release where the problem was encountered (see http://qa.netbeans.org/bugzilla/reportbug.html for more information), setting back to 4.0. - Enhancemenets will not be implemented in 4.1, because we are behind feature freeze milestone, sorry.
not really relevant anymore...
