I am creating new project and trying to select the
Project Location. In the chooser I am not able to
select project direcory - when I click 'Open'
button then it is changed to  'Select Project
Location' button and when I click on it then
nothing happens.

Doesn't seem to happen to me (GTK). Please provide more details to
reproduce.

This issue was fixed in revision 1.6

This issue is not reproducible in dev build #200405311900;
j2sdk1.4.2_04 -> VERIFIED.
