I can't seem to install Netbeans 7.4 on a mac 10.8.5. Installation starts and completes with an error: "Installation failed".

The app icon is there but as soon as lunch it nothing happens.

I installed JRE v7 u40, not JDK though as it's for PHP for now, but it's documented that I don't need JDK.

Any help?

Can I debug or have a log of the installer?

Installation of 7.4 on 10.8.5 succeeded on my iMac.

Yes, please attach the install log (/var/log/install.log) and /Applications/NetBeans/NetBeans\ 7.4.app/Contents/Resources/NetBeans/nb/var/log/populate_caches.log if was created. Thanks

I don't have the populates_cache.log file (or /var/log directory) for that matters.

Based on your log, java_home was not recognised correctly so unpack200 command cannot be invoked. As a workaround please install the latest full JDK - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk7-downloads-1880260.html
We will fix your problem in near future for the next release.

I was hoping not to need JDK, but I might do some java programming eventually, but definitely note now.
