Product Version = NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 2013-07-18_03-07-59) Operating System = Windows 7 version 6.1 running on amd64 Java; VM; Vendor = 1.7.0_17 Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 23.7-b01 Went to start page and clicked on a link. (https://netbeans.org/kb/docs/webclient/html5-knockout-screencast.html?utm_source=netbeans&utm_campaign=welcomepage) . This opened a new tab in Netbeans. The page has a video on it and the first video started to play automatically. Then I pressed the close button on the tab. Expected Results: The video to stop playing. Actual Results: The video continued to play even though the browser tab inside Netbeans was closed. You can go back to the start page, click on the link and close the tab n times. This makes n number of videos play in the background with no way to stop them. The only way to stop the video is to close Netbeans. It looks like when you close the tab, the process that was rendering the web browser tab is still running. If something like this is true, that could be a cause of a memory leak and why Netbeans at times is so resource intensive.
