Screenshot showing what happens when hovering over the area where placing the tab should be possible

When multi-row tabs are enabled it is not possible to position any document tab as the rightmost one using the mouse. When I hover over the area to the right of the last tab the whole document area gets highlighted in orange and when I release the mouse button at that position the view becomes split vertically instead of the dragged tab being placed at that position.

This works for me, you have to hover mouse over the second half of the last tab.

No, this doesn't work. The way you describe it works only when multi-row tabs are turned off, please turn them on in settings and you will see. This used to work in Netbeans 7.3.1, but now in 7.4 (I'm on build 201307302300) I can hover all over the place and I am not able to find a spot to drop the tab to be positioned last.

I'll post another attachment - see what happens when I hover over the second half of the last tab. The tab is positioned before the last one. In fact, the placement of the orange placeholder doesn't change when hovered from the first to the last half of any tab - not in multi-row mode. The placeholder changes its position only when I drag to another tab, that is at tab boundaries. This is different than in 7.3.1, I don't know if this behaviour is intentional or not but the effect is that I can't drop the tab at the last position.
