1. Whilst using Nimbus or Dark Nimbus L&F, goto Options>>Fonts&Colors>>Versioning and if it opens on Subversion of GIT, which has a blank list, the field is wide. 2. Switch to Mercurial and the width collapses to smaller width... or it may not. 3. If it does not collapse, click on the last item of the list and it will collapse. See screenshots. I see the same behavior with the Windows L&F. The window will actually expand back out when clicking on Git or Subversion and then moving the mouse around over the dialog.
This happens after choosing a versioning system and hovering the mouse over the tabs. Hovering over the tabs triggers it.
