Logging as a separate issue instead of reopening the original bug# 221271 as requested in the bug:

> 5. The value cell in the Property summary section should render differently
> > from the property cell
I am not sure what do you mean exactly by 'render differently'.
I have modified it such that the property cells are rendered
as regular cells (i.e. black on white) and the value cells
are rendered on a grey/canvas-like background.
Please, fill a new issue if you request anything else.
Thank you in advance.

The problem is I was very unclear in my original issue log -- I missed the critical word NOT, and did not provide enough detail. I am sorry about that. Please don't hesitate to contact me for clarification if needed before making changes; you shouldn't have to guess what I was thinking!

So, the *background* in the top portion of this window being all canvas color was completely correct (verified in an older build I have handy: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 201211050001) and should be reinstated as it was.

What I was trying to say in the original bug is that when the user clicks in a value or property cell, the cell shouldn't get the focus border. I thought the focus border was only appearing for the value cells, and not the property cells, but after more clicking around today, I see it's appearing intermittently for both. The reason I would prefer not to display a focus border is to avoid even the suggestion of input. If you can't easily turn off the focus border, then please don't worry about leaving it there. The main thing for this bug is to restore the canvas color for the whole pane as it was.

Again, I'm sorry for being unclear!

I have restored the canvas color for the Property Summary section. Unfortunately, the painting of the focus border is hardcoded in the (standard NetBeans) component that I am using there and it would be very difficult to get rid of it.
