Normally, the current layout of a GUI form is indicated in bold in components popup menu-> Set Layout entry.

But setting layout of a form to "Absoulute Layout" doesn't seem to be reflected with such indications.

Product Version = NetBeans IDE 7.3 Beta (Build 201209232010)
Operating System = Mac OS X version 10.7.4 running on x86_64
