This Bugzilla instance is a read-only archive of historic NetBeans bug reports. To report a bug in NetBeans please follow the project's instructions for reporting issues.
This bug was originally marked as duplicate of bug 204748, that is already resolved. This bug is still valid, so this seems to be another bug, but it might be related. Too many classes (interned strings).
Caused by memory Meter plugin
'Memory Meter' plugin <http://plugins.netbeans.org/plugin/5664/memory-monitor> is causing OOME in NetBeans after it is installed. The JDK example you are using has the following code: // Test thread to consume memory static class Memeater extends ClassLoader implements Runnable { Object y[]; public Memeater() {} @Override public void run() { y = new Object[10000000]; int k =0; while(true) { if (k == 5000000) k=0; y[k++] = new Object(); try { Thread.sleep(20); } catch (Exception x){} // to consume perm gen storage try { // the classes are small so we load 10 at a time for (int i=0; i<10; i++) { loadNext(); } } catch (ClassNotFoundException x) { // ignore exception } } } } This thread eats memory and perm gen. So anybody, who installs this plugin will get OOME in NetBeans in a few minutes. Please remove the plugin from plugin center until this is fixed.
