Avalable Plugins Screenshot

When I install NetBeans dev builds and go to the plugins, it shows over 400 plugins available. When I restart NetBeans, and look again, there are only 136 in the list. It appears that "sub-plugins" are being shown in the available and installed list the first time NetBeans is installed.

See attached screenshots.

I am sorry but I cannot reproduce it in my environment [1] but I only unzipped the IDE. Jirko, why do you think this is a problem of Update Center and not the Plugins manager?

Works for me as well. The invalid state might be caused by a broken content of deadlock/nbms-and-javadoc rather then a bug in AU code. I don't know.

New Screenshot of Problem

I just ran NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 201203280401) and went to install the PHP plugin and the plugin list was blank, although it was populated before. I waited for about 10 seconds, and the window was populated with 403 available plugins and 495 installed. This is the first I have seen it do this after is did it on the first time installation before restart.

I took a screenshot and restarted it, and the same thing happened, nothing listed and there was a delay in the list, but it was only about 4 seconds this time. It does this now every time I open the list and pressing the "Reload Catalog" button on the plugin manager reloads that same list.
Comment 5 MackSix 2012-03-29 22:12:20 UTC
I checked "PHP" and it installed all the dependencies and NetBeans restarted and I went back again to look at the list and it now shows the normal reduced size list again. 134 Available, 33 Installed.

@Mark: Which distribution is this? JavaSE?

@Jirka: There was a checkbox to show all individual plugins in the past. It looks like it's somehow turned on, don't you think? The "Installed" tab has nothing to do with the UC catalog, right?

Yes it is JavaSE distribution.

This is still valid. One thing I noticed, when it is in this mode of showing all plugins and their sub-modules and I install the C/C++ plugin alone, it never restarts. So when I go to Options to set up the build tools, I get the attached error dialog.

The plugin manager still seems to have a mind of it's own and may or may not show the list properly and be in this mode or the correct mode each time I invoke it.
Comment 9 MackSix 2012-04-24 18:04:04 UTC
Still valid in:

Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 201204240400)
Java: 1.7.0_03; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 22.1-b02
System: Windows Vista version 6.0 running on x86; Cp1252; en_US (nb)
Comment 10 Jiri Rechtacek 2012-04-24 18:16:44 UTC
Probably the build doesn't contain the fix yet. Let's verify later.
