Product Version = NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 201203210400)
Operating System = Linux version 3.2.0-20-generic-pae running on i386
Java; VM; Vendor = 1.6.0_24
Runtime = OpenJDK Client VM 20.0-b12


1:) I called the Find Dialog first,  

2:) and then drag an tabbed Editor out from main-area.

3:) and  then in the Find Dialog, the option-(Selection) disappear.

Scope "Selection" is shown only if the current selection is searchable. 
Does "Selection" appear again if you select a project or a folder in Projects window or Files window?

now using the version of

NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 201203250401)

It works now.
