The IDE fails to render its screen when the ubuntu theme is changed from the themes panel. It has to be closed and restarted to bring it back to life. On occasions it even fails to shutdown gracefully and has to be killed thus causing loss of work.

this is a bug in jdk 1.7. it is reproducible with e.g. swingset demo application
