This Bugzilla instance is a read-only archive of historic NetBeans bug reports. To report a bug in NetBeans please follow the project's instructions for reporting issues.
This report is based on a user feedback: http://blogs.sun.com/netbeansphp/entry/how_to_change_look_and#comment-1228310644000 Double click word selection should work on mouse down not on mouse up. The standard behavior is that the selection is done on double mouse down and when you hold the mouse button down and go over the next word, then next word is selected.
This is one of the last things that prevents NetBeans from being "perfect". It is an INCREDIBLY frustrating issue, considering not one other application I use uses double-clicks in the NetBeans manner. The main reason this issue is a pain is because you can't double-click to select a word, and the keeping the mouse button pressed, move the mouse to select other words, because it hasn't registered the double-click.
Let's implement it into 7.0.
Hi I've just downloaded the latest available 7.0M1 version, and this is still an issue. Is this going to be worked on? I'd REALLY love it to be added... thanks again.

I call this a bug. Every other piece of selectable text in the rest of the OS (Windows, OS X) has this as standard behaviour, be it in a text editor, in a browser, or whatever. The absence of this behaviour means that you can't double click + drag to select words.
Duplicating to issue #89607, which IMO has slightly more accurate description. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 89607 ***
There is one difference. The issue #89607 is an enhancement, this issue is defect:)
