This Bugzilla instance is a read-only archive of historic NetBeans bug reports. To report a bug in NetBeans please follow the project's instructions for reporting issues.
Motivation for this feature is following: when one has more opened projects in IDE, it might be difficult to realize that certain files belong to certain project, especially realizing, that two projects can have files with the same name. Currently, the only way how to distinguish two files of the same name is to use a tooltip - you need to hover mouse above tab and wait for tooltip - or to use "Select in ..." which moves focus from the editor... I think it might be useful to allow user to assign a "color" (lets say one of ten preselected colors, no custom colors, no special features, KISS principle) to a project. This color would be indicated in the projects view (on the right of the projects name) and also editor tabs would indicate the project where the file belongs to by the color stripe.
