If you double click on a "word" but don't let the button go, there is no "word" selected, so you cannot initiate a word selection drag. To get a word you have to let go of the mouse and then you cannot drag-extend that because as soon as you click again the selection collapses to nil. Now substitute line for word. It makes it really hard to select multiple lines for moving or deleting. This is standard fare in most text tools, including this form I'm writing into.
We do not support this functionality yet but we definitely want to do so. I'm changing the issue to enhancement.
Target milestone -> 3.3.1.
Set target milestone to TBD
Changing subcomponent to clipboard.
This is a duplicate of issue 2237. I will increase priority of 2237 because this issue has 2 votes. As discussed today we may implement this enhancement in next release. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 2337 ***
Sorry, but this is _not_ the same as 2337. I shouldn't have used the wrod "drag" as it seems to cause confusion. 2337 refers to dragging a selection as in "drag and drop". I meant "drag" as extension of a selection. Specifically: - double click to select a word - or triple-click to select a line. - _without_ lifting the mouse button, move and extend the selection by word or by line. The Swing textedit will complete a word or line selection once you let got of the button as opposed to on the press.
Moving to the 'other' subcomponent.
This should be marked as a duplicate of issue 89607, which I think more clearly describes the problem.
