Description Petr Jiricka 2006-08-21 08:29:46 UTC
It would be useful to allow moving the editor caret beyond the text on the line.
This is allowed in e.g. UltraEdit.

This could also help in removing undesirable whitespaces at the end of each line
(see e.g. issue 83059) - the editor just would not place any whitespace at the
end of the line, if the whitespace is not followed by a non-whitespace character.

I agree! Everyone knows the annoying situation when you need the last line of a file to be (at least) in the middle of
the editor view...

I'm sorry, but I probably don't understand this comment. How is it related to this issue? There is another RFE (issue
#104576) that talks about keeping the edited line somewhere 'around the middle' of the screen. Is that what you meant?

vstejskal: Oh ****, you are right... I know about the other issue and the comment is supposed to be there... Sorry for
spamming...
