It would be useful to allow moving the editor caret beyond the text on the line. This is allowed in e.g. UltraEdit. This could also help in removing undesirable whitespaces at the end of each line (see e.g. issue 83059) - the editor just would not place any whitespace at the end of the line, if the whitespace is not followed by a non-whitespace character.
I agree! Everyone knows the annoying situation when you need the last line of a file to be (at least) in the middle of the editor view...

How is it related to this issue? There is another RFE (issue #104576) that talks about keeping the edited line somewhere 'around the middle' of the screen. Is that what you meant?

this would be a great plus to current net beans 6.5 so many developers will be thankful! very important feature!
