Yes. And that is a big mistake... But too late now I suppose.

I would think it could use the registry (HKLM\Software\JavaSoft\...), or use 
the default pattern as mentioned above.  Of course on 64 bit systems it shows 
both the 64 bit and 32 bit JDKs, so there are two breaches of the registry 
and two Program Files folders.
