Hi Paolo,

I had a different issue on Debian, I started the beta 1 then I clicked
on the updates icon and opened the updater, only two packages where
available (the updated updater, I guess). So I updated and restarted.

Everything seemed to load properly, then I opened Help->About to check
the updates status and the following error popped up:

AssertionError at
org.netbeans.modules.autoupdate.ui.Unit$CompoundUpdate.setMarked

http://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=221539

I reported it (id #627061) and when I closed the error report window the
updates icon was active again, this time with 249 updates available.

That's as designed, we needed to update updater first this time, just because it had contained issue, that would not allow you to do the update itself (or causes a fail).

Thanks for your feedback
*Marian

I'm downloading right now and it will take a while, if there are more
problems I'll write a follow up.

Regards,

Paolo

Has anyone noticed that? Or even better, has anyone tried to upgrade from
the first Beta [1] to Beta 2? If yes, was it intuitive and smooth? If not,
can you try it now and then share your experience?

Upgrade from beta to beta2 seemed to work okay for me (on Windows 7).

I had a similar problem to Jonathan with the restart.  The new NB
window did not pop up for a very long time.  Got tired of waiting
after 5 minutes, so started a new instance manually which started
quickly and behaved itself.  This is not new to NB 7.3 - I have seen
it before (with the 7.2 to 7.2.1 upgrade I think).

I have also installed a fresh beta2 using the downloaded install kit.
I notice that the beta->beta2 upgrade has 38 available plugins while
the fresh beta2 install has 42 available plugins.  The two techniques
for arriving at beta2 are not equivalent which surprised me.  Are they
supposed to be equivalent?

George.
