Is the error message you get:

java.lang.RuntimeException: Uncompilable source code -
package sun.java2d.cmm does not exist
You should not rely on packages starting with "com.*" or "sun.*":
there is no guarantee that they will be available in newer
versions of JDK (specially in major changes, let's say from
version 6.x to version 7.x).
I believe this is the case: packages that was available in
previous versions and are no more, probably because they migrated
into standard or because they are no longer supported.
My best advice is: download to a version you know it is working,
and start reading the "changelog" for every version after - you
may be lucky to find which version dropped support.
I mean a JDK version that works. NetBeans has nothing to do with
