I am not sure what to say. I created a NB Web Project, and copied your code verbatim and it worked. I had to created my own CustomerBean using a standard bean pattern. It ran perfectly.

package com.ensode.nbbook;

/**

public class CustomerBean {

    private String firstName;
    private String lastName;

    public CustomerBean() {
    }

    public CustomerBean(String firstName, String lastName) {
        this.firstName = firstName;
        this.lastName = lastName;
    }

    public String getFirstName() {
        return firstName;
    }

    public void setFirstName(String firstName) {
        this.firstName = firstName;
    }

    public String getLastName() {
        return lastName;
    }

    public void setLastName(String lastName) {
        this.lastName = lastName;
    }
}
