The seminar will cover how to easily develop Rich Client applications using NetBeans 6.0 and Swing, with a focus on the new features recently added to Swing. The following technologies will be explained and demonstrated in practice:

  • Java Persistent API (JPA)
  • EJB3
  • Beans Binding
  • Swing Application Framework
  • Java EE 5 (GlassFish v2)
  • Java Web Start (JNLP)
  • SwingX components

NetBeans Evangelist Roman Strobl will deliver a session: NetBeans 6.0: New and Cool that will give an overview of features coming in the IDE, which is currently available in release candidate version. A key focus of NetBeans 6.0 is improved editing experience, and Strobl's talk will cover various new features in the code editing area. Also explored will be the NetBeans Profiler, features for rapid web application development, including AJAX support; Ruby on Rails support, and new features for Java ME development in NetBeans 6.0.
