Since you can navigate through versions using arrow keys, you should be able to
delete a version with "DELETE" key. It is much more comfortable than using mouse
and choosing delete from popul menu.

would make sense.
not only for the delete action.
josef: a toolbar maybe?

I have to think about it. I am not sure if the toolbar is a good idea. Give me a
few days for decide.
