I attached 6 examples of what I mean. They are screenshots in gif format of smears. The smearing is encircled in blue. I notice some of the smearing happens like this; when I click on something (node), all is ok, then once I move the mouse the image gets smeared. Hope this helps.
This seems like core bug. Maybe windows are not properly re-drawn? Thank you for images.
Seems like problem with graphics card driver. From the description and pictures, it seems that the driver keeps an image under the pointer and when you move the mouse, it paints it over the application (to hide the pointer on the original location) but it doesn't notice the image under pointer have changed. Try to update the driver. It may be caused by animated pointer too. Please chech FAQs at http://www.netbeans.org/articles/faqs/miscellaneous.html#FAQ_2
