Original status: 5-Cause Known; Suggested Status: NEW Original Target Release: shortfin_update; Suggested Target Milestone : 5.5.1 These items should be added to the Keywords: I18N Description: This is a request from our customer on the Japanese Creator forum. The AJAX text completion component tutorial currently does not support multi-byte characters. The tutorial specifically mentions this. "Note that this tutorial currently does not support any non-English version of the DictionaryService.war file." This tutorial is available on developer.sun.com (English version is available here). http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/learning/tutorials/2/textcompletion.html However, this tutorial has been localized into multiple languages and the customers are finding it inconvenient that it does not work for their native languages. See the following posting in Japanese. http://sdc.sun.co.jp/jive3/thread.jspa?threadID=1013&tstart=0 It should support multi-byte dictionary for our global community. Evaluation: I'm not sure what other dictionary web service we can use for this tutorial, but will look into it. Evaluation (Entry 2): For shortfin, we have agreed to write the tutorial using the English version of the dictionary web service. In the future, we will disccuss using an l10n of the DictionaryService because we have a request from Japanese customer. From the point of view of l10n team, it would be better to provide multi-byte dictonary for l10n users. If the localized DictionaryService is completed, then l10n can rewrite the tutorial.
I'll have to check with some people of how best to approach this
